Essentials
I wish someone would start gathering medical data on this population and develop medical testing for determining who needs HRT for medical reasons.
I see transgender people as individuals suffering from a variety of sex hormone syndromes that have yet to be adequately medically and scientifically cataloged.
So for me and my purposes, my personal definition of trans is "sex hormone syndromes requiring MEDICAL care in the form of hormonal stuff to adequately support their health including immune function."
I'm not super concerned with how people dress or if they wear makeup etc. Rock stars ROUTINELY dress in gender bending, ambiguous ways and no one really cares.
These are notes for ME. If you trip across them and use them, I take zero responsibility for your choices.
If people have reasonable means to DIY it and wish to do so and will kill themselves without access to care, then making this available is the only morally justifiable position. No one is going to force them to DIY it against their will. Providing useful information is the safest, sanest option for people in situations where they lack legal access to appropriate care.
Site History
This website began with me taking notes starting on Thursday March 20, 2025 on an unlisted one page document on a different website.
On June 17, 2025, I jotted down notes for a piece dated June 18, 2025 and titled Raison D'etre. I had tripped across a comment indicating you can get estrogen from cholesterol and began looking things up.
I learned that cholesterol is a precursor to estrogen in the body and gets turned into estrogen by a multi step process involving enzymes. I already know something about cholesterol and enzymes and realized "I need a bigger sandbox than my one page of notes."
I looked through my dead blogs for one I could potentially repurpose and settled on this one as the least worst answer. See also: What's with the weird name?
On June 17th, I moved all the existing notes here, sometimes regrouping a few things. The Legal Disclaimer was the first piece I published. On June 18th, I cleaned up my notes for Raison D'etre and published them and then was off and running, publishing forty some odd pieces total (including the notes I moved) in like the first nine or ten days.
This led to things getting too complicated for me to readily follow and I started the Outline and pinned it as the featured post. The Outline is a living document that has been repeatedly edited as the site grows and with it my understanding of the problem space.
The goal of this site is to develop a means for people with sex hormone syndromes to address their needs legally and with minimal bureaucratic hassle. The purpose of this outline is to simplify my thought process for how to get the hormones you need via diet and/or supplements.
I have a genetic disorder I've managed for years with diet and lifestyle and I knew a troubled trans youth years ago. She was extremely bright and gave me a lot of information about trans issues in a short time.
I am a post menopausal cis woman. Most information here starts with me reading trans discussions on Reddit but I occasionally read and comment on discussions related to menopause. I reserve the right to be inspired by any hormonal anything, but so far that's what's happening here.
I recently added the label Available for posts about existing, legally available options without a prescription, such as Phytoestrogens which can be moderately helpful and OTC (over the counter) testosterone available in some places.
If you are trans and think I'm a loon, well, don't read my crap. Problem solved. OR click on the above link for instructions on how to CHECK it for yourself with ZERO risk.
