Depression, Self Harm
How to be happy without transitioning
Probably you can't be happy without doing something about the problem though perhaps "full social transition" isn't required.
If it's a sex hormone syndrome, I think you need HRT. Some people seem to get HRT and suddenly care a lot less about "social transition."
They would NEED to figure out exactly what is causing their depression and address it. It may not be just one thing.
Inflammatory diet is known to make brain inflammation and depression worse. Mediterranean diet helps some people.
IF they have a sex hormone syndrome AND it impairs their immune function, they MAY have some kind of illness causing depression.
I'm NOT generally prone to depression. I'm innately a pretty bubbly personality.
Anemia makes me depressed.
Trypanosoma die off can cause a sense of pointlessness and hopelessness.
I've read that there's some other condition that makes people suicidal due to chemical processes similar to trypanosoma die off. So those are EXAMPLES of medical issues causing depression and NOT a comprehensive list.
Without being depressed, I was suicidal for decades. It proved to have medical roots.
It began after I was raped and it stopped after a decade old sebaceous cyst drained on my back near my spine.
Part of what helped me conclude that being RAPED at age twelve caused me to have some kind of PHYSICAL ailment of some sort that MADE ME suicidal is a story about a Dutch teen who was sexually assaulted at age 11, raped at age 14 and eventually took her own life because she was just miserable all the time and it was not getting better.
There are comments about self harm in the discussion linked at the top of this post.
My oldest used to beat his head on the floor as a tot when he was exhausted and couldn't sleep. He "outgrew it".
If you are struggling with this, you could try reading my health site and starting a health journal and try b vitamins as step one. See also: Neurological Stuff (a link only found in the sidebar).
Footnote
Years ago in my twenties, a friend of my husband talked about his mother being put on steroids and getting harrier and having to wax or whatever to get rid of that and taking up weightlifting.
He said nothing about gender identity or masculinizing anything. It was spoken of as a side effect of life saving essential medical treatment and she coped as best she could. "Shrug"
